MalOtic Ointment Indications:
Gentamicin-betamethasone-clotrimazole ointment is indicated for the treatment of canine acute and chronic otitis externa associated with yeast (Malassezia pachydermatis, formerly Pityrosporum canis) and/or bacteria susceptible to gentamicin.
I tried my best to understand it, but I have no idea if this would be acceptable.
While y'all are here, he is also favoring his right rear leg.
I called the vet back, but it was close to closing time and the vet and the main tech were already gone. The girl I spoke with said anesthesia injection site was probably the culprit.
I'm gonna' check back tomorrow, but thought I'd ask your thoughts on this.
I hope that is the problem. He was groggy when I got him, so I'm hoping he didn't injure himself tripping or something.
This has steroid in it. It is an antibiotic, steroid, and anti-fungal combo ointment.
If he already has a possible corneal abrasion from the plaques getting into his eyes, I would be very hesitant to use it.
Do you think he can make it through the night without pawing himself to a point where he will given himself a corneal abrasion? Do you have any 24-hr Wal-Marts nearby where you can get some OTC eye drops for him?
Turbo went from 2 irritated eyes to 1 overnight. Still took him in, though, because the 1 eye was still bothering him pretty bad. Vet couldn't see any damage or debris.
Just in case(and I know how much everyone loves "just in case" treatment)there was more to it than dry eyes, he had me use the eye ointment that we had here.
I also want to apologize to the wonderful ladies who were helping me here last night.
It is one thing, and acceptable IMO, to ask about med recommendations, or general info about a med. It is an entirely different matter to ask about dosage or specific usage information of a prescription med.
That was my fault and I sincerely apologize.
E.T.A. His leg is better, too. Vet said it was sore from the anesthesia injection. No more limping.
