He is from a breeder in Maine who hasn't done any official work with his dogs, ie PP, weightpull ect. I had originally contacted Lem Miller from Joshua Kennels looking for a pup, and he pointed me to a breeder he has been working with that uses his dogs that is a lot closer to me.
His grandparents however on both sides are working dogs from Joshua Kennels. He is the Grandson of Nat'l CH. Joshua's Ol' Southern White aka "Josh" OFA Excellent, SchH BH, CDIII, and Imperial Sheba Girl of Joshua, OFA Excellent, CDIII. So he seems to have some working genes in there.
Right now, I'm just looking for a nice stable family pet to play around with a bit of Obedience. Maybe in the future I may try some sport if I can dedicate the time and the dog has the aptitude.
I really want to thank Jen Marshal for dealing with all my PM's about American Bulldogs!! I was probably a huge pain in the butt, but she was incredibly helpful and patient with me.
I was just wondering... It's much better to get a working lines dog even for a pet, so that if and when you do decide to try some work, the genes are there. Versus the other way around...
Jen, is a great AB person, and I'm sure she enjoyed every pm.
Thanks Katie! I did talk to a bunch of breeders before choosing this one. Breeders can be a funny bunch. There seems to be so much personal stuff that goes on between them that overshadows the dogs.
I had originally had been asking a guy I met at a training group about AB's, but he pretty much recommended only 2 breeders, and really badmouthed all the rest I asked about. The badmouthing all had to do with personality conflicts, not about bad breeding. I really started to wonder what his motivation to help me was.
That is why I am so grateful to Jen, she was super informative and factual when I asked her about a breeding, without being catty or personal. She kept it about the DOGS without involving all the politics that go with it.

Professionalism is always easy to appreciate, isn't it?
