This is way off topic (I blame Alyssa ) and probably going to agitate Barbara but "learn" German with this! I had German in High School 13 years ago, have been to Germany and still can’t remember anything so I use this:
Are you using two separate commands for platz? I take it your training for competition and want a good “non-casual” platz.
PS How’s the biting going ! I read your post from a while ago about Falcon getting a little nippy.
Yes, I'm still saying "down" for the casual, lazy butt down, and saying "platz" when working on the "competition" down.
Your suggestion on getting him into drive is excellent and makes perfect sense! I'll give that a go. He hasn't gotten excited about his orbee ball yet and likes a tug okay, but what he gets all hyped up for is his flying squirrel - so I'll start that. (I need to try to purchase those by the bushel full and at a WHOLESALE price - he goes through those wayyyyy too fast.) It should work because before throwing the squirrel I've been saying "watch, waaatch" and getting him focused and anticipating the throw, so hopefully I can translate that into a nice platz.
The mouthiness is a bit better - not gone but getting better. It is nice to stop and realize that... we are making progress!
I don't know about Falcon but if we are playing fetch or some other fun game with a toy and I want him to down he downs in the more ready to jump up less relaxed down. I'm assuming that is what you mean by not a causal down. So maybe you could try downing him while playing fetch or something where he associates having to get right back up and then mark when he gets down there the way you want him to.
yep... this ties right into what Scott suggested about getting him into drive/focus... THANKS! You guys are sooo brilliant.

Didn't bother me at all, as long as you aren't poking fun at my "show line" GSD I'm pretty laid back !! LOL! (referring back to my being a bit too defensive on that subject...

That is funny, I just go back from buying another squirrel, I too wish I could buy them by the case. They do work for drive building, I had to start using one because of snow.
Scott, I think I told you this before, but in case I've just thought it over and over, I LOVE the photo of your dog... The snow around the eyes makes him looked TICKED OFF and it makes me chuckle every time I see it.
