Speaking of allergies in Dallas, do you ever go on pollen.com
and check out the counts? I started doing that at Mike A's suggestion and whoa! You are not kidding about Dallas being bad for allergy sufferers!
My husband heard that it is the worst season in 30 years!
Oh just fantastic news!
I stayed inside on Monday when I heard that the count was supposed to in the 11's and it sure seemed to help. For the next 4 days it is in the 10's !!! But I can't stay inside for that many days especially with her because she is my high energy dog and wants to be played with 24/7!
I am looking into training her more heavily now that she is older and she can handle more. I think that more exercise could be beneficial for her mentally as well, but it would help if the pollen counts were lower.
Thank you for the well wishes, and your insight.
Have a good night and stay warm!
I check pollen.com on and off, actually, I can pretty much tell when my GSD is going to have allergy issues just based on my own allergy flare-ups, LOL, I am an allergy sufferer, too.
My vet was the one who told me that Dallas was a big allergy city, a lot of his patients have allergy problems. No kidding, I didn't have any allergy problems until I moved to Dallas.
I have been trying to find more indoor activities for my GSD as well. She is young and active. We have a dog trainer we are working with right now, and he has shown us to teach her how to scent, which we can do in the garage. I also try to play tug with her indoor, which helps to burn off her energy.
I haven't decided yet, but one of these days, I may end up getting a treadmill for her, so I can keep her indoor during high pollen days.
No kidding, I didn't have any allergy problems until I moved to Dallas.
I never had allergies until later in life and these past few weeks have been bad for me too. I had to get some Claritin just to stop the sinus headaches. I was feeling just miserable.
I am very interested in your trainer, I will PM you.
Just a morning update, last night went well actually. Gave her some Pedialyte with boiled chicken broth only, and she drank a whole bowl.
Last night gurgling sounds, but no runs outside for emergent potty.
This morning tried to give her more broth with some watery rice and she wouldn't touch it. So, lured her with a few pieces of boiled chicken and she then drank/ate it.
Ironically, she had a very small and hard poo afterwords!!!
Go figure? I guess that it is because she was dehyrated???
I will watch her today and wait for any signs from this mornings meal to know if I should move on.
Just to be safe, I will feed her the boiled chicken and some soupy rice for the remainder of the day.
Hopefully, just a reaction to the heartgard and not a relapse of the giardia.
