Based on the fact that the allergy is just around her mouth, she said that its a typical symptom in dogs with Lupus. But we would have to test and I wanted to see if she would respond to the homeopathy first before going down that road
The appearance and the location, it's on her "chin" and along the lip line. For a short period there was a bit on the skin just before the nose but that wasn't there when the vet saw her.

I don't know, she didn't specify. I didn't know there were differnet kinds of lupus -
I think four groups.
The two I think of that skin lesions might make one think of would be cutaneous lupus, of which there are many "sub-types," I guess would be a good term. ("Discoid" is a term given to chronic cutaneous.) Then there's SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus), which can affect the skin as well as other systems/organs.
There are two other groups too (if I am correct).

I don't bathe her too often, the rest of her coat is in great condition and she never smells like dog because of the raw diet.
The bathing (even without shampoo) is for getting allergens like pollen, etc., off the dog and therefore out of her constant 24/7 breathing-in environment.

Was it more like "Well, lupus can present with these lesions, but this looks like allergies," or what?
Yes it was basically that, and that if the allergies didn't clear up we would do a test for lupus.
I see. OK, then, I'd do all the allergy things possible.
In addition, I'd be protecting the lesions from sun, in case of an eventual lupus diagnosis.
For now, I'd be doing the rinsing, the hot-water laundering of her bedding, mats, etc., and everything possible to keep some of the possible allergens out of her air-space.
