There is no reason she can't lay at your feet and chew on something while you work. I do clip mine to my belt loop, and I am also super clumsy, I only tripped twice and both times managed not to land on him It only took a few days for us both to learn how to walk and move without getting tangled up.

I work from home, too, and when I was really absorbed on the computer, that's when I would put her in the crate. The suggestion for something to chew on is also great. Then, in a little while, you will have a dog that follows you without the tether. Make sure all her experiences with you are positive and she will always want to be with you. Now, mine follows me so close at my heels that I can sometimes feel her. (No sudden stops, lol.) Good luck and happy tethering.

Of course, we could market it as a dual-purpose product; a dog tether and a non-surgical sterilization proceedure. Perhaps if we neutered more dog owners (rather than dogs), the world would be a better place. I can think of a few candidates.
