P.S. Do you think maybe she is aware of her own beauty? That second photo could be a boudoir portrait for dogs.
If my dog ever got wind that some other dogs had boudoirs, my life would be hell... PLEASE dont' let this get out!!! He thinks a crate and a fluffy dog bed are the BOMB. SHHHHHH....
Just got back from the Vet. Suzzie's put on about 2.5 pounds in the last two weeks. Said her joints all seemed fine to feel (meaning not inflammation or anything from over stressing them). She was very well behaved and I was proud of her. The receptionist said she could tell Suzzie was taller. So all in all, I think she's doing fine.
The wife's a little cranky tonight about Suzzie barking in her crate. I got a couple new Kongs filled and in the freezer to help with that. Along with an order of Good Stuff from Leerburg, I think I'll get the crate-crazies under control soon.
Here's suzzie sleeping in her crate on her back. Little dark, but you can see her white belly.
So my girl is about 16 weeks old now and just shy of 4 months. It's hard to believe I've only had her 6 weeks. Seems like forever. We're walking about 45 minutes to an hour 2 - 3 times a day. In every way she's getting better and more settled into our family. I feel a little like i'm letting Suzzie down by cheating, but I got a prong collar. It makes our walks go much better and I'm able to actually tire her out in the time I have. She doesn't collapse from exhaustion when we get home, but once we settle in my office she'll go to sleep. I worry I'm pushing her too much, but she rarely (if ever) walks behind me. She acts very energetic for the entire walk.
She's not jumping on the kids as much (though still does). My own girls aren't as afraid of her, but still have some scratches from paws. I haven't started grinding toe nails, but will soon.
She has a pretty good sit and down though it takes her a while to comply. We're just beginning formally on recall. I need to be more regular about marker training time.
She gets some time unobserved in the fenced backyard and she usually causes problems (like digging in my garden). I try to minimize that as much as I can, but sometimes she's just too wound up to leave her in my office (where she spends much of her time).
The kids play with her nearly every day. This consists of mainly trying to get her to fetch unsuccessfully. I've told the boys not to let her jump on them and they are doing well working on this. Haven't involved any of the kids in marker training yet, but I do let #4 (who's 2 1/2) give the reward when I'm keeping Suzzie in a down while I do dishes. It's very cute. I'll mark and the baby will drop a treat for her.
I'm still feeding her mostly 3 times per day though I do skip some meals. She gets almost a full cup of THK per day plus about a pound of raw chicken. I got some chicken hind quarters for $0.59/lb at our local grocery store and cut them into 1/2 pound pieces to feed her. I think I may be over feeding because her stool is often loose.
Anyway, that's a general update on how thing are going. As always, I welcome your advice on how to improve. Here's the obligatory picture:
