Mallory,
I actually thought it was really cute. I have been looking for a Hello Kitty sweater for my female GSD. I would make her wear it if I can find one in her size, LOL

you know, i was dead set against most dogs wearing sweaters/clothes...
then i got tripper, and well, even in the 70's, he gets chilled in the shade, so he wears shirts now instead of sweaters until it stays warm.
i have fun getting his shirts, but i try to not go overboard. no hats, etc unless its just to take pics. mostly, i enjot him looking silly.
i have decided that its fun sometimes, it doesn't hurt the dog, and he is still a dog, he walks on his own feet(no purse for him), he runs in the woods, through tunnels and over jumps...he just does it with flair now.

I was being hyperbolic, I thought about dying my white GSD green for St Patrick's day but Mrs Jones vetoed that and cut my beer off for the rest of the night

Ya' know, I went to bed last night wondering if my initial reaction had been off the mark and perhaps a bit "anal"... Recently I've seen lots of chicks dyed for Easter (on a chicken site I'm doing research on) and it honestly makes me cringe a bit, which I know was part of my reaction to the dog's new green coat!
If this isn't harmful to the dog, and obviously koolaid isn't, than if you and your dog are happy, I'm thrilled. If my post was inappropriate, my sincere apologies.

I knew that you didn't really mean it was illegal in some states. "That being said," I am on the side of Mrs. Jones with the key to the beer cellar.

You really didn't have an over-the-top reaction, imho. It smacked at first glance of the Paris Hilton crowd, and it took some reeling in of my mind (and assurance that it was not real hair dye) for me to get over my shock.
It was also so not-Leerburg, and it took a sec to remember that this IS the new "non-dog" section .....

I think that dog actually looks more close to NORMAL with blue hair!!! LMAO! Reminds me of the THing One and Thing 2 on Dr. Seuss.
Fine and fun for young fun stuff. My sis did that to her white Samoyed dog, 'cept he was hot pink.

I might be stirring a pot of bees here but, in my opinion people on this forum do tend to over-react instead of asking a question that could prevent an argument by not putting someone else into a defensive position. That said, I know that most of it comes from a place of caring and a sense of protection. Just my opinion, please take it with a grain of salt and the constructive spirit that's intended.

Yes, but think how easy it is to say upfront "No dogs were harmed in the making of this green fur" or "Here are the invisible safety precautions that we took beforehand" .....
Yes, this is a board that tends to jump very fast to the defense of the dogs in a post, a video, or a photo, whether for good or ill.
Unfortunately, there is also a sad POV that long exposure to truly frightening posts can generate.
Nevertheless, point taken! Trying to see every new post as new and not attaching any history to it, as well as trying not to put posters (right, wrong, or indifferent) on the defensive are worthy goals.
