Thanks for all the input! Well I used to work in grooming so I know some dogs are much worse when the owners are there. Im not trying to be difficult, just am truly concerned with the way I have seen vets, groomers, trainers etc. handle dogs before, not a way I would want my dog to be treated. Buddy would be very unlikely to bite anyone, especially me, he is an all around easygoing, chill dog. I made the mistake of leaving him overnight at the vet once b/c they insisted but turns out no one was even there to watch him. He gets scared by the vet now, shaking, etc. I will call today and see what they say.
old age means realizing you will never own all the dogs you wanted to- unknown
The customer is also very often the first one to race to their lawyers when they get bitten while assisting! Owners were NOT allowed to assist in any of the clinics I worked in. Most owners are totally inexperienced at animal restraint and no vet wants to take a bite that was totally preventable. Having someone exposed to x-rays is also asking for liability.
My vet MAKES me hold Molly because I'm the only person who can hold her without getting bitten. She just will not accept anyone else handling her. If you want proof ask the trainer at Petco.
