Not to hijack any further, but Loki has also been tested for thyroid and parasites and came up clean and normal for both.
His coat is also super shiny and clean so he is really healthy overall. Just too thin.
The first link you gave me looks interesting and might be worth a try, the second one has corn, which is Nicos main allergy besides fleas, so it is a no go.
I have actually heard good things about eagle pack too, but corn is the second ingredient.
I do think total is recommended because of all the vitamins and minerals. I just totally skipped it when I made my satin balls for Nico and used extra oatmeal instead.
She was still getting her supplements and regular food so I wasn't worried about any sort of deficiency.
But with full fat plain yogurt instead of the heavy cream and cooked the oatmeal ahead of time to make it more digestible.
1 lb ground beef
1 8 oz pkg cream cheese
1 jar all natural peanut butter
1 jar (smaller of the sizes) wheat germ
1 doz egg yolks
1 cup or so of flaked oats soaked in heavy cream
I think I will actually make some of these up for Loki and see if it helps.

Melissa,
What brand of kibble are you using with the THK, and what is showstopper?
The current bag of chow that's open is Natural Balance Lamb and Rice. We just finished a bag of Taste of the Wild Waterfowl and the next bag will likely be Instinct Chicken. Basically I cycle protein sources and brands often based upon what's on sale which happily helps to keep food prices down.
Showstopper is a vitamin suppliment. Personally I like it better than most because of it's high fat content instead of the grain base you tend to find in most coat and body suppliments.
Oh and if I forgot to mention it the dogs also get fish oil and yogurt regularly as well.
I've had mixed reactions with Satin balls, the stool tells me the tale of how things go down. :-P
I might look into the showstopper for him, that sounds like it might be a good thing.
Nico did well on the Satin balls, and I assume Loki will too because the both have stomachs of steel. Yote on the other hand would have major issues with them I'm sure.
