Okay...someone snuck corn gluten meal in Lucy's kibble...bought small cheap bag because needed food and little money, and hambone ate it of course, DAMN!
Breathe...vet is going to give me antifungals and ointments. What kinds I don't know yet. He mentioned a few on the voice mail, but since I don't know how to reaccess the message (at work) I will have to wait until I stop by and see him.

The vet needs to examine the debris too, because yeast opens the door to bacteria (and vice versa). They are far more frequently combined by the time the infection is noticeable than not.
Oh...they did a cystology? Yeah, I gave them debris from left (filled with it) and debris from the right...mostly yellowish grey. So, I am going to ask about the bacterial. He mentioned two types of meds, but I didn't have time to write them down. We usually play phone tag, then get together...me with questions written down and him with answers pre-written as much as possible.

The dog always has yeast. The "infection" is actually an opportunistic overgrowth allowed to happen by some primary problem like allergies or seborrhea or illness or antibiotics or something.
So no. The dog can't "give yeast" (for lack of a better term; it's early here and my brain is half awake) to another dog who already has yeast but does not have an overgrowth triggered by some causative factor.
The breach from the overgrowth of yeast can and often does open the door for bacteria.
I picked up the wash and med drops for Hambone. There is absolutely no bacteria in the samples I sent, just a VERY bad case of yeast. So much antibiotics and other stuff lately, I feel bad I didn't catch it before it got this bad. I am going to take him in about 2 weeks for a follow up to make sure his ears are mending.
After he is on the mend, then I will invest in Zymox(sp?) Jennifer Lee told me about it. I haven't been able to get any because my money keeps being spent on other things...LOL, but this is going to have to be a priority just like his thyroid meds.
He did great on the wash. My daughter had treats on her hand. I put the wash in, he got a treat. I did the other ear, he got a treat. I counted to 30 while massaging, he got a treat. I counted to 60, he got a treat...see where I am going? At the end, before I turned him loose, he got the jackpot. He did great! Thanks to all the other posts on how to do this with as little trauma as possible to the dog, we had a good first time! (It helps he trusts me).
Yeah...2 x's this year for an infection in his penile sheath. Nasty infection. I used probiotics with the 2nd round, but didn't get it for the first round. Keflex was the antibiotic.
I discussed whether my boy had a yeast infection, but it was bacterial, and his ears were clean both times prior to the antibiotic.
