As for the water I take up it 6:30-7:00. I'm thinking of making it 5 tonight! Even that is a struggle - she whines and keeps trying to pull me to where it should be. Any suggestions?
I know the opinion of a great many people is to withhold water from babies but I just could never do it. My puppies had water available 24/7. If you don't mind getting up in the night to take her out while she is a baby, why withhold water? My puppies were housebroken, and sleeping through the night, in the same timeframe as pups whose water has been withheld. I just find it so sad when people have thirsty puppies!
If you are worried about not being able to predict her pee schedule, maybe you could offer her a small amount of water at regular intervals between say 6 PM and bedtime.
Sounds like it would also ease my conscience!!!!!!!!!
I hated doing it and keeping her from going to her water is tough. I can tolerate a crying puppy for things/manners they just need to learn - calming down in the crate for down time or before getting food, but this felt like depriving her of a basic need.
I will try Angela's suggestion. My alarm will be set anyway
And Connie, you are right about learning to read your dog. Even when she was going nuts yesterday afternoon, I thought this is not like her. Complaining, yes, but she was trying to crawl out of the crate. Maybe the brain synopses will fire next time and connect the dots before the accident!
