I agree completely - it is near impossible to believe a large dog could get in a crib and remove an infant without making enough noise to alert two adults in the house. I expect there is more to this story than meets the eye, and can not IMAGINE what that child endured.
every infants crib I've seen have those high sides and high up. can't see a dog doing that quietly, the baby was only a few days old, I'm thinking they did a very poor job of introducing the baby to the dog.

Matthew, I hate to see stories like this come out of Kentucky, too. But, still, I have know of more than a few people that have had wolf dogs or whatever name they want to put on them.
In the almost thirty years I have been an appraiser (you can imagine how many houses I have been in) I have encountered at least 5 where people had these dogs and bragged about them. The most memorable was one that was kept as a house dog and the lady had a grandchild that would lie with the dog. They even had pictures of them together. I always wondered how that turned out.
On the other hand, there has been only one memborable occasion (in thirty years) that a homeowner had complete control over her dogs - three of them - and told them to go to their place and they did. The whole time I was there.
No matter what it is a sad and tragic story. I feel for both the child and the dog.
I feel for the parents too. My three kids are just about grown but I realized the day I lost my oldest daughter under the clothes rack in a department store.....there but for the grace of God......a second's inattentiveness can lead to a life time of consequences. I was lucky she was hiding under the clothes rack but not everyone gets off that easy and my heart goes out to all of them.
Horrible story. If the baby was in a crib, the sides were probably all the way down, so I think it would be easy for the dog to grab an infant. I do think some people think that their dog "knows a baby is a person" and if their dog doesn't attack people, it is safe. The thing that is strange to me is that the dog went outside with the baby, unless they have a big doggie door or keep their door open.
I also wonder if anyone knows the age of the parents?
Has anyone heard how the baby is doing? I am praying that the baby will recover and also that it was a horrible judgement on the parents part.
