I can't help but imagine the "peace" which must be developing inside this dog... to little by little have her world expand in such a positive way has GOT to feel good to her on the inside as well!! Really great work.
Tanith, I was wondering about that. I know where he lives, and it's on a regular route of ours, so if I don't bump into him relatively soon, I was thinking about stopping by his house.
I went for a hike today with a friend and his daughter and Luc and Neb (Teagan didn't come; his daughter is old enough I'd feel comfortable having Teagan around her but my friend is nervous of Teagan), but the whole time I've been home, Teagan has been faithfully keeping watch outside the cat's room (with it's safety knob, since she gets doorknobs) on the chance it magically pops open! Ha! Oh well, things bit by bit!
And that's something else that's really important to me. Even though she's a dog that's learnt to attack and (according to trainers/behaviourists) kill sucessfully and enjoys it (that I can verify on my own), I can't imagine being that aggressive all the time is all that healthy. So for her to have some peace is really important to me.
I just have to add that you folks who rescue these difficult dogs and then devote so much time and energy toward making them happier, more balanced animals, truly deserve a huge pat on the back. You really are to be commended.
And don't get me wrong guys, I'm not about to start running up to strange dogs when out with her, but STILL.
....Barbara. Here I can't take credit. I wanted to get a confident dog (for Luc, wimpymcwimperson) and Teagan was obviously confident. The shelter said she needed a home experienced with German Shepherds, and heck, I had Luc! But I didn't know she was difficult. I quickly figured out she had aggression issues but I had no appreciation for how far they extended.

Ditto. Even though you didn't know she was aggressive when you adopted her, you've buckled down and worked with what you had - not many people have the gumption to stick it out. I honestly don't know what I would have done in your shoes. Teagan is lucky to have you and I'm soooo excited to hear about your progress! wahoo!!!
