Oh, BTW -- my dog was extremely sick right away. I don't mean that this will still happen.

No, the creek water isn't cold this time of year, & it is clean. Now that I am thinking (dah), she is pretty much(?) trained the yuk command, but she was smelling something "aweful good" in the brush the other nite (last nite?), at near dark, I couldn't see, but it smelled good enough to her to eat a oak leaf that had been there, maybe more? I was surprised by that, as she knows yuk & out, & never does (or did) that before.
This is her first vomiting spell.
She picks up walnuts at the park, but spits them out.

When you say extremely sick, was it with vomiting, & vomiting that would not stop?
Her's stopped after the park incident; hasn't returned, but probably (maybe) the shot?

It was vomiting and diarrhea and no, it didn't stop until she was hospitalized and fed by IV. No, this is not like that, although this has acute pancreatitis symptoms.
So it sounds like maybe she did get into something.
More about the walnuts unless you are positive that the dog ate no shells .... are you? The shells from the ground can cause an upset stomach and diarrhea. They get wet from rain and hoses and then they get a fungus that makes toxins. Post back about how sure you are that the dog has not been eating them. Was there any blood in the vomitus?

"She picks up walnuts at the park, but spits them out."
Does she roll them around in her mouth first?

Yes, she rolls them around, then spits, like they taste nasty to her. No blood in the vomit. But had forgot her ball, when saw she picked up the walnut, & wondered about toxins myself, but didn't know, or think about it again until you asked.
Thanks Connie!

Well, I think I read that it takes a couple of days for walnut toxins to make the individual sick, but I'm no poison expert. I'd check that out with poison control or the vet.
And if it ends up that acute pancreatitis is more likely (although I am surprised at no diarrhea), then I can give you some diet hints for a couple days.

Her stool was normal this a.m.; maybe diarrhea set in later?
I was looking at my vet bill, information is for Acute Gastritis.
From the look of horror & disbelief, & chat I heard behind the "closed" door, I am sure they attribute this to the "raw" diet.

Oh, I'm sure too.
That's why I am spending this time on helping to figure out what it really was: Because raw-fed dogs don't get diagnosed carefully once some vets hear that they are eating fresh raw food.
No, the diarrhea and vomiting and real malaise (the dog feels like crap and looks awful: lethargic and just unwell) of acute pancreatitis happen all pretty much at once, IMO.
If I were lacking knowledge of roadkill or dumpster-diving (or whatever that was in the bushes) and if I had checked out walnut-toxin poisoning, I'd proceed with a bland low-fat diet for several days, just in case it was acute pancreatitis, which makes the organs inflamed and angry and which needs to be treated gently.
PS
Acute gastritis means "damned if I know, but at least part of the GI system is inflamed and upset."

I just googled the walnut poisoning, & yes, her putting them in her mouth is not good (that will never happen again!), vomiting being a symptom!!! But rest of the list she checked out ok at vet!!
Thank you for your last post!!! Yes about the vet, & made to feel. But I am grateful that he took his time & really went over her well, even coming back in the room to check her gums & blood for dehydration!!! That I was grateful for, after there horror of raw!!
This is what shocked & upset me is that, her energy was normal, she looked great before & after!! Vet said she looked great of course, way they do after they look at you as if you have three heads for saying you feed raw.
Now by original concern, & first thing I said to vet & kept repeating was: can she have a blockage from eating from the cats litter box when I use Arm & Hammer clumping litter? That was my first thought & that problem is no more also(box now in garage)!!!
What type of bland, low fat diet should I feed for next few days?
