I almost forgot I have a question about prong sizing. I've watched the video, but what if the dog is right in between too tight and not tight enough.
I always felt the same way about my dog. I have to confess to being a prong collar failure. I know it had to be the fit as I had the HS so it wasn't a quality issue. I even had a trainer fit it to him with no luck; it didn't seem to make a difference. I eventually gave up and improvised with a body check as a correction and taught off lead heal and moved into loose leash walking from that. A little backwards but it worked.
My dog has a huge ruff so I think I maybe needer longer prongs; I don't know but I am curious to hear the suggestions.

To make up for that "half link" you're talking about, I just clip the quick-release clasp further up on the chain instead of at the last link of the chain. This seems to do the trick for me.

I'm curious, could you please post a picture? It may just be the size collar I have for my dog (small) but I also have the quick-release prong and it seems that if I clip it further up the chain, I run the risk of the prong coming loose because the clip can't actually fit through the link. Right now the collar is fitting her properly on the 'end' of the chain but I'd like to see what yours looks like.

If you look at Konnie's pictures - that's what I cannot do with my quick release. I CAN clip it on the last ring of the chain but cannot clip it further down for a tighter fit. At the moment I don't use it in training but have put it on my puppy and it fits as is. However, she is still growing so I'm not sure if it will fit as well once I have to add another link.

I just dug out my small HS prong collar and the links of the chain are way too small to do what I suggested - much smaller than the links of the chain on the prong in my pictures. Just as you said, what I suggested above does not work with the smaller prong collars.
I think the bigger lesson to learn from this experience is that a prong or pinch collar is NOT the solution to a problem, but only an AIDE to training.
The collars are not meant as a replacement for proper handling or good training techniques.
If my dog isn't learning, I'm doing something wrong.

Wow, that's pretty strange, Jasmine; I wonder if this is the case will all the HS small collars? (I just read Konnie's next post...seems the small collars are alldesigned that way)
Makes the adjustable feature pretty useless.
I have a medium and mine works the way Konnie's pictures show...
