AKC and UKC along with foreign registries like the Kennel Club (UK) are the only ones worthwhile and with an ounce of integrity. A registry's function is to truthfully record the heritage of dogs.
I disagree with that. There are several worthwhile individual breed registries in this country that strive to promote and preserve the integrity their individual breed.
Of course there are plenty of others whose "registration" isn't worth the paper it's printed on.
Further examples of totally bogus "registrations": http://www.orebaregistry.com/ ( run by an ex-felon Kwame Winston, who's already been featured in the "Con Artists and Crooked Kennels" area of this forum )
The guy actually had four bitches in the back. He said he never let his kids around them without being there. I could hardly criticize as the purpose of my visit was for work, but I was tasting blood for biting my tongue. He also said "My dogs are show dogs?" I'm thinkin' "Really in what show are they entered Redneck and Beerbongers of America?" If you google the "breed" I mentioned the third site listed the title having two people's names is the one he showed me. They look like freaks of nature. The odd thing is the people on this site appear to breeding blue pitbulls as well. The first site on google lists "Champion bloodlines...from where? The pitbulls? I've read that AKC will not register a APBT. That you have to get the dog registerd as an Am Staff first and then register it with UKC as an APBT. That seems odd as we are America. And Petey from the little rascals was supposedly dually registered. I don't know if the was dually registerd with AKC or maybe both like I mentioned.
ADBA registers Pit Bulls. AKC does not. SOME can qualify as Am. Staffs and then be dual registered, but primarily it's ADBA. More recently, bogus APR has come into the picture...a registry in which you can register any dog just by saying you believe him/her to be an American Pit Bull Terrier.
He may actually be showing them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S86b4noglrw Seems to be some confusion about the breed. This breed mixing is probably why my boxer mix looks like an Argentine Dogo. The breeds used to make them are pretty much what he looks like. But this same guy told me "They're breeding those dogos with everything." So apparently they're (whoever they are) trying to breed Dogo with the APBT to "get rid of aggression". Which again is odd because of the mix of breeds that went into the Dogo. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Argentine_Dogo Some people may just feel the need to create their own Frankenstein

Edit reason: Bad link
Wow......a show comprised of mostly gangster wannabes showing dogs in crappy shape ( those dogs have *zero* muscle tone ).
And they actually *wanted* people to see that crap and put it up on YouTube?

From their website:
Dogs ineligible for ABCA registration:
The ABCA is a working stockdog registry and believes that breeding for conformation standards rather than working ability is detrimental to the health and working ability of the Border Collie. Consequently dogs or bitches which have been named a "Conformation Champion" by a conformation registry are not eligible for ABCA registration, even if they otherwise meet the requirements for registration. The ABCA will de-register any ABCA registered dog or bitch should it be named a "Conformation Champion" after January 1, 2004, and will not register the offspring of any dog or bitch named a "Conformation Champion" after that date.
I'm assuming there isn't much truth behind that? I can see if dogs are bred solely for conformation alone, that the working ability could be lost eventually. But it kinda just seems like they're hating the pretty dogs just for being pretty (not saying working dogs aren't pretty.. but you get what I mean).
Sadly, very few dogs that are bred for conformation have *any* type of working ability left in their genetic makeup, we've seen that in the GSD world for better than two decades now.
The Border Collies that are being bred for conformation will be afraid of sheep, take my word for it.
