I see in the picture what Angela is talking about. I've never used one with a prong that way, I just hook into the choker if I need a back up.
I have, however seen a few Sch folks with a prong on thier dog, and a DD collar with a short lead and handle on it positioned above the prong. Thats probably the reason for my response. I don't equate a DD collar to being a back up as I don't use it for one, nor see it used that way in these parts.

I didn't know, either, Howard, and I gave some kinda weird answers to people with whom I was having totally different conversations from the ones they were having.
Finally someone pointed out that the DD collar did not have to be a DD collar. LOL
But really it's good that we keep explaining the two very different uses, because I too have seen it used absolutely incorrectly as a DD collar, and would hate to perpetuate that.
Thanks everyone! Sorry I didn't get back here yesterday to clarify that I am using the DD as a backup. Lucky for me my DD collar is a little big, so it's a perfect fit for that use.
