The wider collars are definitely easier on the trachea. I agree with VC that Ed's leather collars and leashes are the very best..... heck, I wouldn't mind having some type of clothing made from it!
The nylon collars made by Hamilton are nice.... doubled and stitched with sturdy hardware. They can usually be found in livestock catalogs and feed stores, as they also make halters.
I like light-weight nylon collars and leashes for puppies under 12-14 wks. and leather for everybody else.

The leather Ed carries is really good stuff. Consequently the synthetic tracking line stuff is really good too.... and SO easy to care for.

Yes, I played with the Gripper stuff. It worked, was really grippy. . .fun to play with. . .but wasn't that super nice and soft high quality leather feel.
Debbie isn't a perv (well, she might be- who knows?). . .I'd take a nice Jacket made from that leather in a heartbeat. I even like the stitching color and snaps. Gloves, vest, chaps, and a jacket and I'm ready to hit the road. . .all I need is a nice restored Indian and I'm down the highway.
Me and Fonda easy ridin' all the way to Sturgis to pick up on some fine biker beeaatches.
Not a perv V.C.....just, ahh, well....you'd just have to know me.
Was a shame about that slipper Deanna, you would have loved them! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
I like the Grippers but do not use them. I have had a few experiences. One one which I was assisting someone with there dog, and they through the ball. The gripper got caught on my leg and did some pretty nasty damage. I have also seen several other have accidents with them.
I ware shorts alot during training and people constantly mention that pants are better. Needless to say there was no compassion for me what so ever
