Thanks Anne, the vet today did state that it could be EPI but did not seem overly concerned at this point (but I am) also she only has the first 3 sympyoms. and the diarrhea is not all the time, acutally more like loose over feeding stools(I wonder why maybe cause I am feeding more to offset the weight loss). Connie I agree about a new vet. Do you guys think the digestive enzymes will help? And is this something I should have addressed imediatley?
You state "loose over feeding stools" .....If you think that her stools are loose because you are feeding her more....then you may not be adding enough bone to her meals. More food (unless you are feeding a ton of it) should not realy cause loose stools in a normal healthy dog if the food is balanced. It may cause a little more stool but not ongoing freequent loose stools. If I needed to put weight on my dog (which I have occasionally needed to do) I would add a meal instead of adding alot of additional food to a meal. My dogs at certain times of the year really burn off their food & need to be increased. This is just what works for me. I hope that you get this resolved soon. Good luck.
We are going to try adding another meal as you suggested maybe a leg quarter, tripe and some yogurt something along those lines. Thanks for the info on over feeding I was always under the impression that over feeding causes loose stools, now I know that I was just adding maybe to much meat and not enough bone. I also hope we get this fixed, losing 3.8lbs in 1 month does really concern me.
If you feed a leg Qtr, which is a good meal in & of itself, meat to bone ratio-wise, at this time with you dog, I would cut off any visable fat & much of the skin. Alot of fat & skin can cause loose stools. I sometimes feed the whole leg qrt as a meal, but most often cut off the excess fat & some of the skin, it depends on what they have eaten in the last couple of days. Too much fat can cause problems too. Dogs use fat like we use carbs..for energy. But you CAN feed too much of it.
I want to add that I feed leg qtrs as a meal, but balance it out by feeding other muscle meats, organ meats & bone etc, at the other meal of the day. I feed 2x a day.

Frank, were/are you feeding just one meal per day?
Also,
"I was always under the impression that over feeding causes loose stools"
It does .... overfeeding at one meal. So as Anne says, to add food, adding a meal rather than increasing meal size significantly will go a long way towards avoiding triggering diarrhea.
Connie, I have been feeding twice a day about 1.5lbs each feeding. I have bumped it up to around 1.7 to 1.9 twice a day since she has been losing weight. With all this info I have gotten I think I will go back to the 1.5 2X and add a small mid day meal..... I think that is what you meant. All of your help is GREATLY appreciated.

Wait a sec ..... the dog weighs around 60 pounds, and is getting 3 to 3 1/2 pounds a day? That's 5% +.
Let's go over this again. Are you sure about the numbers? Am I off somewhere? Not a growing puppy, right?
12mos. old and very very active I was going by info I had seen from another post, also I have had her on this when she was 69lbs. I guess I am really confused now.
Connie, I stand corrected I was feeding 3% of her weight (63lbs.) up until last week. Her last visit at the vet for the giardi she weighed 63.4lbs. a month ago, today 59.6. What ratio should I be using at this time?
