Thanks guys. That pic of Simon's bone always amused me, too. He was about 5mos old in that picture. I tried to get one of him ferociously defending it when Simon tried to get it back, but no luck. For some reason, it was Simon he always chose to terrorize. He would wait until Simon was asleep, and he would crouch down at the foot of the ottoman he was sleeping on and reach up and grab his tail. Simon would jump up and look, but Tsavo was already under the ottoman and Simon would go back to sleep, looking a bit confused. He also used to jump off of the pass-thru counter onto him while he was sleeping and run away before Simon had a chance to wake up and figure out what happened. It almost seemed like the older cats dared him to do it, or maybe he lost a bet. He was quite the character.
When Herman and Morgan are gone, I will get another F1 or F2 Savannah. I am not comfortable getting one now in case Herman truly is FeLV positive b/c kittens are quite susceptible to infection. I am still not convinced that he didn't have non-effusive FIP and the lack of reaction to the test wasn't simply the fact that his body had quit producing antibodies. The breeder and I are completely baffled as to how he would get FeLV.
I was really looking forward to seeing him as an adult; early generation Savannahs grow for about 3 years, so he was nowhere near fullgrown. I buried him yesterday. It's nice to live in the boonies where you are allowed to bury your pets on your property. I would hate the thought of him being added to some mass burial pile to end up God knows where. Wait, come to think of it, even when I DIDN'T live in the boonies I buried my pets...but I did it at night, lol, and then put a bush on top.
Anyway...it sucks, I miss him, and I hate that he was sick for several months of an already too short life, but he definitely made the most of that short life and leaves quite a hole.

You could see he had charachter just by lookin at his eye's.
Sorry for your loss, and as chessy as it sounds, try to feel a bit better knowing he's not in pain anymore.
