The older dog is doing nicely on her chicken, just gave her a piece of kidney today.
The pup got her first chicken neck today so keeping my fingers crossed she will do nicely on them so I can ditch the Eukanuba. She is a bigger chow hound than my other dogs (and they are poor starving hungry creatures 24/7) and declared the funny stick eatable really fast and then ate it really fast. Hope it doesn´t come out just as fast
I can sympathize with the poor starving hungry creatures. My pup eats like he hasn't had food for months... Like he's being timed. Its kinda disturbing. Which is why I can't wait to get him on raw. Kudos to you for switching!

I can understand that people that haven´t fed raw can be a bit afraid of the dog gobbling down and chicken neck or a wing but for this girl I am more afraid of giving her kibble. She inhales the kibble so that this morning she got some in her throat and after gagging a bit she threw out a bunch of it only to continue at the same speed. I can´t imagine feeding her like this day in and day out. Luckily she acts much better with raw and nicely chewed the necks I gave her for lunch. I think we are well on our way since she hasn´t had a sign of stomach upset. Yet.
On a local dog forum there was a question about what do people give their dogs for christmas and do they get any special foods. My answer was simple- my dogs christmas present is switching them to raw and this way every day is christmas Beats a shiny collar any day of the year

So true!!
Oscar's been eating raw for almost 3 years now, but he STILL treats every meal like it's the best thing ever!! (and I admit, I still love watching him crunch up those chicken backs...)

A little update on our switch...
The adult has done great as expected without any stomach upsets whatsoever. She has eaten chicken and pork.
The pup has done pretty good too. I found a place that sells chicken backs as soup batch so she has been eating those lately plus a piece of pork kidney, beef liver and green tripe (I guess only raw feeders can understand why a person would be happy to get a few kg of this icky stinky stuff for Christmas ). The liver gave her a little softer stools than normal for the day but that was it. I guess I will try to give her some pork next week.
They both got a few bunny necks for Christmas as well. I just can´t get it how could I forget that my uncles girlfriend has rabbits and kills a few on special occasions. Though it makes me a bit cautious that I am waiting for my uncles birthday so some cute fluffy little things would get killed so I could feed their parts to my beasts. I was once a very compassionate animal lover and now just waiting for someone to kill an animal to grab what I can. Perhaps I should consider going vegetarian myself to balance it out I guess I was already lost when I started to pick up roadkill to place at the end of bloodtracks... Anyone else notice this kind of change?
Jaana, you have just turned the cornor & become a beastie yourself. LOL Gotta love that killer instinct. That is the circle of life.
BTW...my 8 wk old pups would inhale chicken necks without even the thought of a chew on the way down. They would try it with backs, too & I would be fishing the stuck backs out from down their thoats. After a few episodes of this, they figured that they needed to chew the backs at least a couple of times before swallowing. Ha Ha
