Nah the Original Hampshire. Sorry should have been a little more conscise with my question.
Well I hate to use the work 'trick' but I've been asked to provide a dog for a small part in a film. Most of which he can do but they want a 'mean' growl or snarl and he doesn't know that.
I got him to bare his teeth by holding a toy on his nose - he does that naturally but I've increased it to working with the toy a few feet away with marker training.
He does have a bark on command - both a single woof and continuous bark until told to stop. Due to his manwork training he would probably bark at a threat.
Was just really after a positive method - the only time he naturally growls is in very close proximity to other dogs and I do not want to reinforce that behaviour by using it to introduce the command.
I got my dogs to growl while tugging by growling at them and marking for any small bit of noise, then rewarding with big play. I haven't put it on a command, but I imagine it would be easy to do so. I don't know if that helps at all...

One of my dogs does try to copy vocalizations by me. We started with speak, woof (a little bark), a howl, coyote howl, whine and growl mumbling kinda like the dog I love you or mama speak. I haven't tried to get a full growl from him yet although I'm sure we could get it with some time.
I'm sure I look like a total idiot doing this but it is a fun little game to play with the dog.
