Ouch,
Must have been one heck of a (proper?) correction.
she was being a butt head on a Bh excercise and I popped the prong collar with a strong verbal while I was pissed off, she fell to the ground and went four paws to the air. I gave a quiet foos command which she jumped to, continued for a bit and spent the rest of the time playing. went to an ecollar shortly after that to get more consitant(non emotional and over reactive) corrections
Ah, very understandable Dennis.
We've all lost our cool. One of the hardest things to control.
Emmmm, hard dogs........I've had a few. Back in the bad old days it was just sooner or later the two of us would have a physical confrontation.
Then at the dawn of my enlightenment it (the hardness) was to be nibbed in the bud. That worked out real well too. I'm guilty of picking up 4 and 5 month old dogs by the loose skin on the neck and putting them up against a wall to get their attention. Wanta know how that worked out? I got bit just as soon as I put them back down on the floor. So I guess that worked....I got their attention okay.
Do I do any of that now? No.
But they were hard dogs.
Submissive for a hard dog is listening for a masters voice over it's internal noises.

I've seen "hard" dogs, Erika's sire to be exact, but in the back of my "New Age, Life is beautiful, good Karma" mind I think an easier way is possible. If I end up with a "real" hard dog by accident one day I'll let you how it works out. I might be breathing thru a tube but it will be a good learning experience for all
Thanks so much for the help and comments guys. Maybe I'm just expecting too much from him now. He's so rambuctious and I am full of bruises. (at least now the cuts and puncture wounds have healed from baby teeth) Strangers must think I'm an abused woman when they see my forearms!
Al, I don't have video capability, my computer is so old. Will be correcting that soon though, I've been wanting to watch those video shorts on the Leerburg e-mails every week.
