My dog's toy of nuttiness is a $1 stuffed toy from WalMart that looks like a little space invader type of thing. I use the energy for training basic OB. Here's an example. I've gotten him to the point where I can down him and throw his toy across the room at half power. I started by putting him in a down and just setting the toy on the ground next to him. Hold for a second, release, romp. It took a few days before I could get him to hold for five seconds and few more days until I could toss the toy a foot or so. I have him do a few repetitions, throw the toy for him a few times, let him chew on it for a minute or so, rinse, repeat. He seldom has playtime without some kind of positive training mixed in.
He's also like that with his tug. I follow what Bernhard Flinks teaches in his Drive/Focus dvd.
My dog ended up putting holes in it and being able to carry it around in her mouth. She was getting cuts in her mouth because of the hard plastic sharp pieces from her chewing on it. Talk about obsessive. I would only put it out for short periods of time. I wish it had lasted longer considering the price.
