Randy, you have obviously never been in this type of position, so I forgive you.
Rut roh.
"There is no dog on earth that is worth a child being mauled."
Tina, of course nothing is worth a child getting mauled.
However, there are so very many truly talented, knowlegeable and compassionate folks on this site who COULD have helped you either work through this or find another option for the dog.
I just can't picture anything I've ever read on this site for over a year now which would have led you to this option without seeking input from those with the widsom who could have helped. JMHO.
Is this a troll? First posts, and it's this red hot issue? Posted on a board that is the last place you'd look to have someone tell you to put down a dog with so many experts here to guide? The subject line, "Killing Cajun." I smell troll.
I don't know the details but imho, you can't save them all, their are some dogs that just aren't wired right and can't be re wired. A question for all, don't expect an answer, do you spend time, money, and resources on one dog with no guarantee of success when you could of saved two or more dogs?
Dennis, I am sure you are right and that some dogs are simply wired wrong, Lord knows some humans are... But for someone to have "lurked" with such a challenging situation going on and yet not seek advice and support doesn't make sense to me. Perhaps the dog WAS beyond help, it is just a shame that the help wasn't sought from this site since the OP was aware of the experience within the forum.
Dennis, your question about resources used up on the unsalvagable is excellent. My other dogs slept the entire rest of the day after Cajun was put down. The tension was gone. How fair is it to expose your other dogs to this kind of insanity? Tina
I have to agree with Barbara. It seems so strange to post a first post with something so challenging. Also this title of this post really disturbs me." Killing Cajun"
Sorry Tina, but you didn't provide any real details to your situation. Hence the reaction you are getting here.
I agree, that some dogs can be wired wrong, but it would take some real experienced behaviorist to lead me to these conclusions and not simply my own experiences.
Tina, regardless of whether it was the right decision to PTS or not, the title of your post is callous, inflammatory and in poor taste, at the very least.
My other dogs slept the entire rest of the day after Cajun was put down. The tension was gone. How fair is it to expose your other dogs to this kind of insanity? Tina
So you had a 6 year old Rottie and then also purchased/adopted two more Aussies while having all the problems with this dog? Did I miss something? If not, how fair is it to bring in two other dogs "to this kind of insanity?"
