Ugh... this puppy needs a vet to rule out a UTI, kidney failure, and a possible liver issue. Preferably one that comes to you. I'm not sure the laws of Indiana but here it is illegal to sell a puppy under 8 weeks old for good reason.
The behavior you're describing is not normal. Frequent urination is normal for a young dog but not to the level you're describing along with the water seeking. Seek medical help for this puppy, I would say return it to the breeder but any idiot who would let a puppy go at 6 weeks is not a breeder worth returning a puppy to.
I agree with you, My daughter bought him in MN, she is in process of moving to IN now. I dont think she realized how young he was, And I dont know what the breeder told her. He seems to be healthy in every other aspect. I did take him for a exam, but at that time I didn't notice the frequency of his drinking and peeing. I really dont want to take him back to that breeder, like you said he isnt a good breeder and probably dont care much. I am going to try to call him and find out exactly how old he is cause I'm trying to guess. He is a cane corso puppy so in my daughters defense she probably thought he was older than 6 weeks cause of his size.
connie, the puppy came to my house the day that I had pm'd you about introducing him to my 2 dogs, cant remember exactly what day that was, The 10 days is just a close guess. I did take him to the vet last week and he checked out ok, but at that time the vet wasnt looking for any thing particular. I didnt really notice the peeing and drinking frequency til the last couple of days. I've never seen a puppy run to a water bowl and lap up the water as he does. I havent had this breed of puppy either. I think i will take him back to the vet.
Debbie, I realize this is your daughter's dog and that you are trying to help out why she moves... however, I see a HUGE RED FLAG with a Cane Corso pup sold wayyy too young to what sounds like a novice dog owner/trainer... JMHO and absolutely no offense intended toward anyone. (This is just starting to sound like it has the makings to become a very bad sitution...)
