She got the dog when he was 8 months old or so and he and his family have all been kennel dogs. None of her other dogs are bad in the crate, just this one. It's not diardhea but by the time he pees on it and spins all day long in the kennel, it is quite a disgusting soupy mess. Even when she puts him in the run outside, he just spins in circles. He's nasty.
Peel n stick vinyl is what I was thinking too, just didn't know if it would stick right to the osb or whatever sub floor she has plus wanted to ask around before just doing it and then someone telling me an idea that I wish Id thought of I hadthought of that plastic pebble-y textured wall board they use in commercial kitchens, turns out that would be pretty expensive. I was wondering about running the peel n stick tiles right up the wall to the top of the crates but didn't know if they'd stay on a verticle surface....I guess a person could glue them.
Spins in circles isn't nasty: it's obsessive behavior that might mean he is going kennel-crazy from lack of exercise. I'm just telling you this so if she accepts (even asks for) ideas, you will know this.
And if he's peeing on it all day, then the poor dog is apparently forced to stay in his own mess at least much of the day and isn't even getting outside to pee. The spinning is part of what sounds like a big picture of pretty bad mismanagement. But you didn't ask about this, and the thread isn't about this: if you want expansion on the topic, please PM me or mention it here.
About the peel-and-stick tiles: it might depend on what the walls are covered with now. Like what kind of paint .... ?

As an FYI, if I had to choose between the peel-and-stick tiles and a full sheet of vinyl, I would choose the full sheet type.
Even as close as you can get the sticky tiles together, there will still be seems for ick to collect in and when doing a clean up, fluids can still seep, even if just a little.
There are a lot of varieties and colors of vinyl out there and some are self sticking and some need to be glued. I would have it run up the walls and either tack it up and/or use a chair rail to hold it up just in case the glue would not hold on the walls.
Check out the home improvement stores and also carpet stores, they will often have many other types of flooring available.
The best cleaners I have found for cleaning dog and kid messes is by far Simple Green. It is non toxic, cleans just about anything and best of all... it leaves a fresh, clean scent behind that helps SOOO much with dog stink. My back up is a cleaner called Advantage, only sold by solicitors and online.

I am with Jessica and would second the sheet vs tiles. I have used the cheap tiles for just this use in a patch job (til spring when we can refloor ) and the 4# poodle can chew the darn things.
I have tried the Simple Green but like the smell of OdoBan better(just personal choice I think). Of course I prefer the nice clean smell of bleach...but not gonna eliminate as much for the dogs point of view.
As for the dog that is dirty in its' crate....my sympathies. I have clients that are similar in a crate or kennel run. I had thought some of it was the space to move and all but I really think some dogs can not deal with the stress of confinement. I have a lab in right now that is just incapable of holding her pee more than a couple three hours. I run her twice as often as the others and she still tracks in pee from outside. The owners have even checked her for diabetes and other UTI problems.....she is "just Sydney" as the family says. She opens her kennel latches too so everything has secondary clips. So, long of it is that I would try some totally positive retraining to a different crate with the messy dog.

Simple green is great stuff!
There is cleaner called Kids and pets at Target, or by the case at amazon that also does a great job dealing with organic stains and smells. It is way cheaper and works better than Nature's miracle.
During her last heat cycle miss Nico got her diaper off and flopped all over the couch. It got the stains out the first time without bleaching it.
When she pulls the carpet up she is going to have to treat the subflooring as well to get the smell out.

Oh yeah -- good point!
And a chair rail is brilliant.

If you install a ceiling exhaust fan make sure it is vented through the roof to the outside. Otherwise, it's just venting into the attic and potentially causing problems down the road. The a/c unit sounded good.

see....I knew you all would have lots of great input! I only saw a very quick glance of the room once so I'll have to talk to her and see what the walls are, etc. Very good point about the tiles.....and other stuff. Thanks a ton, I'll keep working on it.

And hose them out regularly, since one of the dogs is a stinky mess maker
