She will get hungry enough to eat it, but only a little. She will eat very little for days on end. The very first time that she gets something better in her bowl she will eat like its her last day on earth! Then she will start to refuse the chicken again.
She loves pork necks, oxtails, ground turkey, any beef, lamb ribs and chops. I just can't afford to feed them all the time.
whoa, that girl is holding out on you! she knows there is something better if she just waits long enough and wears you down, feeling sorry for her hunger strike.
My kids used to do that, they would refuse (chicken, coincidentally) and wait for pizza!!!
The last time I weighed her she was almost 70 pounds, but that was a little more than a month ago. She has definitely grown more since, I'd say she is probably still in the low 70s.
I feed her two pounds of food a day split evenly between two meals.
I do wait for her to eat some chicken before she gets anything else. I'm starting to wonder if I should feed her nothing but chicken for a while, like a few weeks or even a month.

Especially when its so much fun to watch them eat!
I love seeing the enjoyment she gets from a lamb chop or a hunk of steak. I've been joking with my friends about how the best part of feeding raw is that it makes you feel like a zookeeper

Funny you should mention this, because I was thinking the same thing today as a matter of fact.
I used to be a docent at a small zoo and I would be around watching the zookeeper who cut up all the meat for the lions.
It was amazing to see how much meat those big cats can eat.
I think that from time to time, dogs can either become picky or they are very keen in their assessment of us knowing that if they hold out, they will get something better. ( that is if we decide to play that game.

One of the most challenging things about this dog is that she is just so hardheaded! She's sweet, but she has a very strong willful streak. She presents me with a lot of challenges, and will continue on with a behavior for weeks on end despite my efforts. I try to be patient, assertive and consistent. Eventually I just can't take it anymore and change what I'm doing because it just doesn't seem to be working.
I guess the chicken is probably no different. Just another battle for me to win.
