It sounds like both of you would probably really love it!
I did...but um....I can't throw a frisbee well enough for that stuff XD I tried it with my parent's dog growing up. I really do throw like a girl >_> (which is why soccer was my sport...)
JAMIE! Practice. Get a trainer. You expect Ryuk to learn new behaviors, turnabout is only fair play.
Trust me, I practice. Under calm conditions (which include "hover dog" bouncing around) I can throw it. But no matter how much I try the rapid fire just doesn't work and aim...I think my frisbees are magneticly attracted to where ever I'm NOT aiming.
I've been trying to improve my frisbee handling by playing disc golf (we have a course locally). Unfortunately I think it's a flexibility issue, I can't "snap" my wrist any more. I've been working with my left hand but haven't quite gotten there. Maybe one day I'll be able to be at the right level but until then there are plenty of other dogsports to try.
Jamie, I thought about doing some disc stuff with my dog until I watched a video of the pros. Not only are they able to throw those things straight and far (something I rarely do), they do incredible things like bounce them off the ground, over their backs, etc. I figured I would need a mentor to get advanced skills like that!

True enough. I do admire your deathscootering stories. :-)
Inspired by this topic, we headed outside to throw the frisbee today...
Dom got hit in the nose twice, fell on his butt once, and I ended up in the mud- dog marching off with frisbee in mouth, intent on destroying the thing.
So hats off to y'all that successfully "play frisbee". Alas frisbee is out of our league!
Dom is still a youngster, right? He may turn on to it after he matures a bit. I don't even start doing much with the frisbee until after a dog is at least a year old since I don't want a youngster to be jumping/twisting to get it. It's really tough on those growing joints

Jessica, the flying squirrel that Leerburg sells is a bit easier to catch, IMO, than a hard frisbee. Chula loves hers, and we also have a sturdy foam frisbee that she loves, also...both soft on the nose! (these are by far her favorite toys)

Big huge ditto on the flying squirrel!! My dogs love them. I have about 5 of them in circulation now that the snow melted and I found the ones we'd lost! I use them for Kipp's SAR reward - It is his #1 favorite. He can tug it or fetch it and he only wears out about 2/year.
