The only time I bathe my terriers is after a hunting trip. They can pick up fleas even in the winter from the critters we hunt underground. I brush them 2-4 times a week and they never smell.
To teach my puppies to be good in the bath tub, I bathe about every two weeks, but only use warm water, no shampoo. This teaches them to be good citizens without drying them out.
Kim, great idea about the "practice baths". Maggie, I bought a Zoom Groom today, and we love it! Thanks! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
As long as you find a good shampoo like Kenic you should be able to bath as much as you need to. The reason is that they have no detergent or soap. That also means no lye. So it wont strip out all the oils. But why is she peeing in her kennel so much.
If you know everything you cant possibly learn something new.
Let me rephrase...she is really good about letting me know when she has to pee, it's just probably bad timing on my part. Since my first post, I've been taking up the water earlier in the evening and it's helped a lot. Also, I've made her crate a bit smaller.
