Michel, give it time. Almost everything will pass.
Foreign bodies can hang up where the stomach empties, and also where the small intestine joins the large, a place where we have our appendix, a spot called the ileocecal junction, but you have to really have bad luck to have this outcome, dogs eat things they shouldn't all the time. I think he should be able to pass the standard
water bottle cap.
If he starts vomiting then it could be trouble, but if not you are probably going to be fine.

When this happened Kasey was only a puppy. We were told that the cap was too big to get through his stomach valve, and they did give it a day and half to try. The xray showed it sitting right there stuck in the valve, so it wasn't moving and the ER vet and regular vet agreed it couldn't stay there. Ours could have been one of the rarer times that things get stuck, I don't know! But we definitely knew he wouldn't be digesting plastic, so it had to be removed because it was blocking the valve. For me personally, if it doesn't come out in a couple days I would at least let your vet know.
My cattle dog is dead now because of a hair scrunchy that got caught in or around this location. not a large scrunchy, either.
He likely would have lived had I known he had swallowed it, and sought help after he first threw up. As it was we only figured it out after the first surgery.
When surgery was done too much tissue was dead even after 30+ inches of intestine removed, too close to pancreas.
I would take this very seriously, remain vigilant, and consider getting an x-ray to locate the object, especially if he stops pooping solid stools.
Once you have vomit or diarhea or blockage, I would get an x-ray with no delay.
Keep in mind, the x-ray itself is a significant delay due to the barium swallow.
this one s for Betty:
"hard logs, round stools, PLASSSTIIIIIC"!!!!!
guys! that was one hell of a couple of days.
i ve been walking him for the past 2 hours. wanna see him poop again before i went to bed.
was gonna call vet in the morning if i hadnt seen anything in his stool.
!!!
and the adventure goes on!
good night Leerburgers! its friggin' 2:00AM here!
i swear, i m like a single dad!
Quick question: would really heavy breathing relate to something swallowed? It s a 'bit' warmer today, but really no big change...
Karly s been breathing from his mouth and nose when walking as if panting. He breathes heavily from his nose when sleeping. As if he just ran for a while..
Would this be because of swallowing something? He loves to bite plastic bottles and rip them to shreds but i always sit next to him when he does and remove anything he s bit off or is in his mouth (m waiting for a whole bunch of leerburg toys coming soon!!
(But along with the panting are the usual stomach sounds (u know what mtalking bout, sounds of fluids and stuff)
I tried feeding bread just in case but he didnt eat it. But just finished another backs and ground beef plate (though maybe that d drag with it anything that might have got stuck.
However, panting continues... Am i paranoid? Do these breathing change of patterns just happen?
