I have a 12 month old male from Sable Rock and I could not be happier with my Pup.
I will admit that initial communication with Callie was more spread out and there were delays in communication. However, now that I know how busy They are raising a family and taking care of the dogs, training, taking care of pups, etc. I can understand why there would be time in between replies.
I have written Callie at least 30 emails over the past 10 months, some regarding questions on feeding (all her dogs come crate trained and raw fed) some on general behavioral questions, etc. She has Always responded. Granted sometimes it takes a couple of days.
My Pup Anchi just turned 1 year and he recently passed his herding instinct test. We just had our first lesson on Saturday and we're having a blast. Everywhere we go, people comment on how beautiful and calm he is. He's social, confident, playful and extremely smart.
here is a recent photo of him as well as his pedigree. There is a gallery there of more photos of him.

here he is watching a Leerburg training video

I am no expert, just someone who happens to love the breed. I have a 9 year old who I switched to RAW after Callie gave me some advice and as a result she is more playful, her coat is beautiful and she's back to a healthy weight.
I love my Pup and am having a blast with him and for me that is what it's all about.
I am betting that they are just busy, I hope you can connect soon and that you find the right pup.

Sorry, I would have posted sooner, but my pc was infected with some nasty virus which took some time to fix.
May 21st I called 2 of the number I found for her, on the internet, but one was bad and the other just an answering machine, but no mentioning of it being Callie or her kennel so I did not leave a message. I didn’t see her phone number on her website, and it states that communication by email is preferred.
However, I received an email May 26th letting me know pups were being born. I made a few email exchanges with her since then, but I have not asked again about a site visit and she hasn’t offered either. I’m sure she has her hands full now with the new pups. I was hoping she would read and respond to previous emails about it.

I have had similar experiences with my breeder also. It can be frusturating but hang in there. We paid in advance for my pup instead of just the deposit. Our breeder takes a few days to respond back, sometimes he doesnt. He has 8 dogs and 2 children under 10 plus training and getting older litters out to their future homes.
My husband and I had a case of nerves sending in the money and hopefully it wasn't a scam. My breeder also prefers email over phone, but we requested a phone call from him at his convience. We gave him the times we were available and knew we were going to be home and left it up to him.
After the phone call convesation(s) we knew we had made the right decision regarding the breeder we selected. One nice thing our breeder does is youtube videos of his set up, weekly videos of the pups, and emails updating us on our pup (not as much as I would like but it is enough).
So hang in there! Your pup will be worth it. If you still want to see the kennel I would definitly do that, but make her call you first. Then while on the phone you request a date and time to set this visit up. She cannot stall like she can through email.
If you want to record your converstation ask if you can put her on speaker so your spouse/sig. other can listen to whats going to be going on. You can have your computer record the converstation if its got a microphone, there shouldn't be any interference. Or you can use a recording device, thats what I use, it runs on batteries and you can pick them up at Walmart. They will upload to your computer or run on a small cassette tape.
Hope this helps, and good luck with your new pup!

Just as an FYI, recording someone's phone conversation without their consent is illegal in most states.
I'd check the wiretapping laws in your locality before you record a conversation without telling someone about it.

Recording without consent is illegal in many states. BUT recording with consent is always fine "do you mind if I record our conversation?". Otherwise unpleasant things might follow, like $$$ penalties and yrs in jail. Not worth it
eta: if you cannot trust the breeder why deal with them? There are so many good breeders out there. Even if you loose this deposit you will be gaining a new trustworthy friend the next time(hopefully).

LOL - if you feel the need to record a conversation with the breeder of a potential puppy, you need to look elsewhere ;-)

Hi Jacob,
Now that I know how busy they are raising a family, caring for all the dogs, preparing for shows, training, taking care of litters, and lord knows the preparation for even just feeding since they feed B.A.R.F., It makes sense to me that they prefer email. Now that the pups are born, I'm betting she'll send email updates with photos and then temperment tests.
I can't wait to get another one from SableRock. I cannot thank them enough for pairing me with my current boy and for the support they have provided after he arrived.
After loosing my 8 year old a year ago April, I was devastated and wasn't sure I wanted to go through that ever again.
Callie Listened to what I was looking for in my Next dog and picked the perfect fit for me and my lifestyle.
I am also thankful that she taught me so much about feeding a raw diet. In addition, she didn't need to take the time and answer questions about switching my older GSD but she did.
Every time I send an email update about how my boy Anchi is Progressing and how happy we are, they are thrilled to see his photos and hear about his progress.
This is a breeder that cares about the dogs they produce and the homes they are placed in.
Worth the wait...
If you end up getting one, please let me know. Those Red Sables just born look beautiful, I'd love to see photos of your pup and the progress.
best to you,
Denise

Not to overlook the nice testimonial by Denise, personal experience trumps what I have to say, but just looking at their site I would have a few concerns. Maybe I missed something, so please excuse me if I'm wrong.
First of all, they have A LOT of breeding dogs. They are beautiful, and they look healthy, but a big concern I would have is that it does not appear that they have personally put working or obedience titles on any of them.
Most of them are imports, which in itself is not a bad thing, but I would worry about a breeder that has many adult dogs that they didn't personally raise and are not being worked. If they aren't working them there is a chance they might not really know them well.
What I would worry about is that they are breeding imported dogs for looks instead of balanced drive, temperament and good nerves. A dog can be gorgeous an have perfect hips, but if its turns out to be an alligator you could be heading for trouble.
JMO.

Just to respond about recording the phone converstations. Yes, I did mean to ask them before hand. I am sorry I didn't put that down when I was typing it in the first place. Sorry!!

I haven’t given up on her yet. I figure I’m not out the $100 unless I walk away, , but would have liked for her to invest the time for me to see the place.
Also she is sending out weekly updates of the litter now. We’ll see how it goes.
