Outback steakhouse has a nice steak victoria filet. But I go across the street to Cheddars for grilled salmon with bourbon sauce. They also have a nice sirloin for less money then outback. Good ribs at cheddars too. Most of our best restaurants are local to this area and have been here a long time.

Best Steak - Mastros - Scottsdale AZ. Not a chain like Ruth Chris, but top notch quality. Well worth the $$ and checking out if you are in Arizona.

Best Fried Chicken: a dive called Frank & Helen's in St. Louis.
Best Frozen Custard: a route 66 landmark in St. Louis, Ted Drewes.
Best thing I ever ate anywhere: a dish I ate 20 years ago called "Chicken Alexander" from a restaurant in Greektown in Chicago that I don't think is there any more. Runner up is the Chicken Tikka Masala from the Indian place near me.
One more: there's a fairly new pizza restaurant in St. Louis called "Pi" that's good enough that President Obama had the chef flown to the White House to make pizzas, a choice that ruffled many Chicago pizza lovers. ;-)

Best steak in Denver: Steakhouse 10 (not a chain)--and actually it is in Englewood, an adjacent burg of Denver...
Best Chile Rellenos EVER: Orlando's in Taos, NM. And there's pretty good mexican food in Denver.

And there's pretty good mexican food in Denver.
When I lived in Colorado finding good mexican food was like trying to find unicorns. I don't think I found a good Mexican place in the entire state with the exception of the flea market taco stands.
Actually I had Mexican food in Osaka that was better than most of the tex mex places in Colorado Springs.
If I could remember the name of the place I would talk about the Mexican food I had outside of Tombstone. That was amazing.

Well Denver and Colorado Springs are like different planets (believe me, I grew up in Colorado Springs). In fact, there is no fine dining in the Springs: just chains...let alone great little hidden gems.
In Denver there is Lola. Great for "coastal mexican fare" Awesome, table side guacamole and silver coin margaritas. Plus, my neighborhood is home to Chipotle #1, the first one before they went chain.
Anyway, my daughter just moved to Albuquerque NM and the green chili is everywhere and addictive.

Hey Marcia,
I'm in Denver too - I can verify that there is FANTASTIC Mexican food here. Too many good places to name - El Tapatio, Santiagos, and my fave, Efrain's (but that's in Lafayette).
For French, Bistro Vendome is AMAZING, and very authenitic. It's so cute and very Provence.
