My experience is limited, but I can tell you that my own dog can't tolerate raw and kibble in the same day, never mind the same meal. I can feed her kibble one day and raw the next with absolutely no issues, but if the a.m. meal is kibble, and the p.m. meal is raw.... Boy you better lookout!
Also eggs are pretty rich. They are kind of along the same lines as organ meat, oily fish and fats. When you reintroduce them you might want to spilt one egg between the two dogs to start.
Giant breed puppies need a lot of food, especially since they are going into a rapid growth phase right now. You will be amazed how fast they grow! As Marcia pointed out, the amount of raw food they will require could possibly need to be split into 4 meals for them to tolerate it during the switch.
Have you read all the info on the site about raw feeding? Cindy's article and q&a is a gold mine of info. I'm with Melissa, you should probably go back to kibble only for a few weeks while you do a little more research. Your little guys need the fuel too much right now to take chances
Maybe I should go back to kibble. The breeder told me what to feed them and she feeds all her dogs the same. Like you said, maybe it is better that they just get strong and that I should stick with what has worked for her...she is a very well respected breeder in Southern California.
For now, yes.
Only because we want the diarrhea under control. It will go SO much smoother with happy, healthy guts.
I'm by no means saying to abandon the idea of raw with these pups. It is totally doable, but didn't get of on the right foot this time.
Get the digestive upset under control, and we will be more than happy to get this going as smooth as possible.
Alright. Well I'll put them on kibble for now until things mellow out and then I'll try (try) again.
Thanks.
Once you get a couple days worth of good poops from the pups let us know and we'll get this show on the road.
And really think about purchasing one of those books to go along with the free articles on this site.
Both books are fairly cheap and will really help you get a good understanding of rawfeeding. They are also very nice to have handy to go back to every now and then when a question arises.
I ordered the first book and should get it on Saturday. Not easy to see them staring through the window saying, "Where's my yummy chicken I have been getting every day?"

It really is a good book. You'll learn alot from it.
