I have had more damn hot dogs in my mouth then a hot dog eating contest winner. I HATE hot dogs. I can't even stand the smell of them anymore. Yuck! But damn, they sure work for spitting them out to your dogs for training or on tracks.. LOL
I actually prefer the real high drive hard dogs. It has been a real learning process to teach this male even more so then others that I have had that were on the soft side. There is alot of handler aggression in his lines also...so it is a real balancing act at times. He can flip that switch easily when he gets frustrated & hectic. So he needs to be kept focused & forward. I can see where someone with a heavy hand or pushes too hard, could get really hurt with a dog like this. He's an interesting dog, that as I stated, has taught me alot.
It's always an adventure. They are all different. Cookie cutter trainer...do not apply. LOL
I don't think Billy will have any handler aggression at all, but the sensitive stuff kills me. To watch him stand up to any pressure from a helper so far, and I have to watch the tone of my voice????? Nothing comes from the cookie cutter is right Anne.
Thanks Lamarr. I don't have a plan with Chaos yet. I'm planning on trialing with Billy, my older Shepherd in the spring. If that works the way I want I'll do the bh followed as soon as I can by his 1.
Let me know when your coming out, I'll bring my rott.
I'd definitely like to see Andy. He seems like quite the character after watching your video of him. Sad thing is though I'll have to come without my girls as they aren't ready for that experience yet.
I've been going every other week to see Dave and get training done with my girls. One of my girls is very high strung, and that's to downplay it. Not typical Rottweiler personality. She loves to work and needs it, but she has ADD and is as crazy as they come. I'm having quite a hard time working with her, but we are having fun. Can't wait til we get to your dogs' levels. Hopefully my dedication pays off.
