Dave that is good advice. And some Japanese names are fun, like Uni and Ebi.
Astro, perfect name for that little guy.
"Pepper" is the front-runner for the two more aggressive girls in the litter, if we take one of them. There is a more mellow one that might need a different name. In her case we would go with something like Sophie, another good suggestion.
We are picking him/her out this weekend, and will likely give a deposit then.
We will pick the dog up in October, most likely. We are married on paper but are going to have a giant wedding celebration in late September incorporating our cultural/ethnic traditions (i.e. hers, lol).
Although I am willing to bet that once the wife sees all the pups she will want to take one home ASAP. Just my feeling on the matter.
She seems to prefer the idea of a boy at this point, but I am partial to girls, especially this one gorgeous dark one with some of the best coloring I've seen on a Mal, ever.
And it's been about 10 years since I last had a puppy...so this is going to be exciting indeed.
Thinking back to the days as a kid who read
the morning "funnies" cartoons....two names
that I have always thought were cute and
funny were Ziggy and his dog named Fuzz.
Not sure if they are female names or not,
but think they sound androgonous.
If you pick out a lighter colored Mal, how about
Blondie?

So, I assume the pups are at least 6 or 7 weeks old this weekend? And that means you're going to leave your pup with the breeder until it's 16+ weeks old? (or in that neighborhood?)
Do you realize you're going to be missing out on the very most critical socialization weeks by doing this? And, with a Mal?

I'm gonna say that isn't always the case and has more to do with genetics than that narrow window. My Roxie was five when I got her and she was not socialized at all, only brought out of the kennel to Foos, bite, breed and whelp. She assimulated and bonded in a matter of days, house trained in two weeks and a real snuggler
