thanks for everybody's replies. I really need help and this has been such an excellent resource! I just took the little one out on the deck and there were some new people talking behind the corner, she let out a small bark and I was able to redirect her into a sit with a high value treat... I hope opportunities like this keep coming. thank you thank you thank you everyone,
BTW I also got the Clicker Train Your Own Assistance Dog DVD because of our situation. I have been doing the very beginnings, I know she says not to until the dogs are solid in OB but just to keep them busy and to teach skills inside the home I started. Willie the one with the vaccination issue is my little girl, not the older one. I will do whatever it takes to make this work but I have a lot on my hands taking care of my husband, I am also a special needs teacher so I go from special needs kids to disability at home and two dogs that are over my head. Sometimes when I post I think what a stupid question, but I simply have no more brain left after everything I deal with. I just need to know what to do and I will do it. We got two training sessions each dog in today already. thank you again everyone!
Don't ever think your questions are stupid......they are most certainly not stupid.
Every one here is supportive of you and trying to get your situation worked out.
I've not gotten the vid you are speaking of.....I've look at getting it but haven't yet.
I'd like to hear more about it.....
I am actually quite amazed at the assistance dog video. She is very good. If I manage to train the little one it will be only because of all these great resources from Leerburg. She breaks things down to the smallest degree possible. I have only seen the first part so far (I think there are four) but I really love it. As far as everyone's answers I am just so happy that people would take the time to help me and to answer. All the answers here have given me some insight and helped me and I have just gotten back from a small walk and was able to handle my little girl better because of you guys..... We met one of our neighbors and she started growling. I had her sit down which she did, I rewarded her, then she started sniffing the neighbor who was fine with that so I just kept rewarding her for getting closer and not growling. It was great!
I thought I suggest you not to do it on a prong collar and a dominant dog collar. I believe that is not the right solution for your fearful dog. I'm feeling sorry for your dog because she doesn't know why she is being punished like that. And she thinks the other dog is causing her punishment not by you.
A prong collar and DD are for confident aggressive dogs who refuse to listen to their owners. And don't get affected easily like dogs who are insecure and fearful. I hope you get a help from professional trainer who can show you a positive way. I don't believe that DD and a prong collar is the right tool for you dog.

Hi Lenka,
Do you have a puppy or a fullgrown dog? In general, a dominant dog collar isused as a backup collar for a prong, or as a tool to control truly aggressive dogs.
It's not a good correction collar or training collar. Is your prong collar the quick-release type?

Lenke, If you are asking about Connie's past few posts, I think she moved two comments to a different "topic" - she wasn't responding to YOUR post, but was moving other comments to a more appropriate area. I THINK this is what you were asking about.
