I like the fact the my dogs offer behaviors to me. It means that they are happy to work & are showing their engagement with me. It also shows that they are thinking about what they have to do to get rewarded. If I don't want the behaviors & want to teach something new, I just give a negative marker & tell them to wait & then move forward.
I do prety much what Barb said she does. Except I often have both dogs doing it at the same time if I pick up a treat in the kitchen to take to toss into a crate or just to give them because I want to.
