Ah, I have a special "dog blanket". It's like a tarp, but not crinkly. It has these little straps that hook it onto the seat and down onto the floor and up the backs of the front seat so it's ONE giant barrier. Then it has special rubber lined holes for the seatbelts.
I believe it was $15.99 at Job Lot ugly as sin (seems to only come in puke green and vomit brown unless you're lucky...I've been told gray exsists) but it works for long trips when my dog is blowing his coat

I've got this one! Doesn't do much good in our Acura, the fit is all wrong, but it does protect the seats where it covers them.
The bigger problem for us was having Monty loose in the car. Oh boy how tired I was from riding with my left arm twisted back, holding him in the back seat Doggie seat belts are useless with him - he chews through. Chewed through Acura'$ $eat belt$ in 5 min$$$
Ana: muzzle and a seatbelt? LOL. I was lucky, those blankets fit PERFECT in 92 Honda Accords
Nah, no need for that now - got 2007 Honda Odyssey, following in Ingrid's footsteps fits all the crates! What a relief riding without a dog in my lap. But sometimes I miss it...
Our 2-door Acura was turning into a stove in the sun. The Odyssey stays cool and if all windows and the back are open it is very comfortable for the crated dogs. Now we can take them out one at a time for training and have the rest wait in the van What a bliss.

LMAO! I just got done removing the second row seating for the first time. I can fit 2 400's and 4 300's with the rear seating down. I need two more dogs now
- line the bed with plastic (the mats get too dirty from the dog stuff)
- get the silver mesh shade to make it even cooler
- clean up the garage so that we could finally park it there!!! (getting friendly reminders from our prissy HOA neighbors )
- get a roof storage for the gear
I used to manage to get a vari-Kennel #400 crate into my old car A Ford Escort coupe (2 doors). I had to take the crate apart and assemble it in the back seat. Then manage to get my luggage and the dog's (crate dolly, grooming table, supplies, leashes, collars, food etc. into the trunk and anywhere else I could manage to stuff them. LOL

I did get the plastic right after I got it :-) I ended up just going to Walmart and getting several yards of clear plastic (type used in shower curtains). Works great but the only thing I do not care for is that the crates slide around easier.

Nice! Assembling the crate in the car. What an idea! Thanks. I think I will try that after all.
