While pepper spray might be a good idea, the main problem with any spray is that it could end up in your or your dog's eyes if the wind happens to be in or shift into the "wrong" direction. But, what about a small cattle prod or stun baton. the noise of the latter is generally enough to scare off most dogs without actually having to stun the dog. Of course you'd have to desensitize Chico to the noise.
Which is the most effective for very dangerous dogs?Is a Cattle prod very big?-stun gun? I don't have any clue how these are used or what effect they have... But I need to get something.

Danilo,
If your personal safety and property safety ( your dog ) are indeed at issue here, get a CCW and a firearm whose caliber begins with the number "4" and then attend a good firearms training academy - your personal safety will increase by 1000%.

I am guessing that pepper spray than... In Guatemala it is normally 2-3 dogs or more...lose.. Lots of packs, everywhere. If you hit once with a rock-stick they won't come back but it is all the misses that gain them confidence.
Just be aware, as other folks have pointed out, wind can play a huge part in how successful this is. I still wonder if wasp spray which comes out in a strong stream wouldn't be more dependable... I've never used either in this application however.
