Any advice on what size? Koenig is 80lbs, and has a 17'' neck (measured in the correct place) Small, or Medium? I've read that the small has more 'bite' to it, and is obviously less bulky then the med.
Thanks for that link! I scrolled down to the bottom and there are some really nice designs.
I constantly struggle with the issue of judgment from other dog owners (and nosy onlookers in general), now that I live in a (what is for me an uber) small town. In the big city, I would occasionally put a bandanna on Toro if going somewhere special and didn't want the hassle. But here, it's a different story. I "represent" one of only 2 vet clinics, as well my own business, so it can be a fine line...
The true me, couldn't care less what others think. The me that needs to keep my job and my clients, needs to care which makes it suck harder! Sorry to wander a bit.
Those plain black ones look like they may add a bit of reinforcement as well.
Wow, Ingrid, those patterns are gorgeous. Thanks for the link.
Phaedra, I so know exactly what you mean. I work part time for my vet and I even got that comment from a co-worker. Something to the effect of "Is he really that bad?" 'He' being the dog that they always called the 'Wild Child' but can still be used, unmuzzled and barely restrained as a blood donor. Apparantly, most of the staff were offended by the collar. These are also the very same people who complain about clients' dogs that are out of control.(Although, most of my coworkers' dogs are completely impossible to control, too - several aren't even crate or house trained) I just don't get it.
I think an attractive cover will be a huge help. I know the prong collar has made for a huge improvement in our relationship. I am no longer aggravated (and aggravating lol) when walking my beast. I am much more willing to take him for walks and he gets to spend much more time out and about now.
I would still really love to hear more about the original collar. IDK why, but I think it's really pretty.
I would like to know more about the collar too. Mostly about it's functionality, like how you can remove the prongs one at a time, I wonder what holds them in place? They are really nice. I think they would be perfect for an already prong-trained dog.
I found this site which has a little more info on my 'funky' prong collar.
It says the prongs imitate a dogs teeth, for a more (I quote) "Natural influence" On the dog.
