..I keep them in a bin but she is very good at opening things and she had just seen me take some out for dinner. So she sniffed around it and I started talking to her and then she came to me and then wagged her tail and went back opened the bin and took one out and did the body wag and started playing with the potato.

She will be very trainable.
How did you find the person who is coming? Do you know about the methods used?

By the way, a month with an unknown-history adult is a very short time, and I agree with Barbara that getting some weight on her is huge.
Potty training is something that requires 100% consistency and trip after trip outdoors .... catching her going indoors really means that she was in the wrong place when she had to go, and that would be avoided with dog-attached-to-you as well as many trips outside and a party with every good potty.
One thing I want to say really sincerely is that it's YOUR call how your dog is trained. That is, if you are surprised by the new person administering corrections for something the dog has not 100% learned, or by any kind of treatment that you are not comfortable with, then it doesn't matter where the trainer came from or how much they advertise or who recommended them .... it's your right and your responsibility to ensure that your dog is trained in a way you feel good and comfortable and happy about.
I probably don't have to say this, but you seem to be a little lacking in self-confidence around this at the moment, so maybe it's best to say it anyway.
I'm thrilled she is gaining weight. She has gained about 8lbs with me and is now a 62-63lbs! When I got her she was at 55.2lbs.
I still haven't tried the attaching and I honestly kind of forgot about it. There are so many things to train her on I guess I feel I little overwhelmed and not qualified.
the lady that I talked to was primarily going to help me with walking her and she does use a clicker. I know this because the person who recommend me to her is using one. And then with basic commands like heel and sit. She will sit for me but only if I have a snack she wants. So that was all she was going to basically help me with. She has around 8-9 years experience.
I read somewhere to start walking her inside the house and she will stay to my left and just a bit behind me while walking in the house but as soon as we get outside....she is everywhere and completely non responsive.
The lady that suggested her to me has a large boxer who she said was very destructive and had major issues. The lady, Catherine, helped her out a lot and just having her there seemed to help.
I'm doing it for her but also hopefully to build up my confidence. I'm sure Marley Girl knows I'm not real confideant and I wouldn't doubt that being part of the problem.
Michelle,
Per very knowledgeable people on this website Triple Crown Academy and Tom Rose's School for Dog's are the best trainer schools in the US. In a very rare stroke of genius I realized they both will recommend a trainer if you email them. That way you get a trainer who knows what they are doing. The closest one to us is 1.5 hours ride each way but we might do it because of the horrible experiences we have had with trainers. We wasted an awful amount of time and money looking for one.
Ed has an article here on the website called I think The Theory of Correction. It's under the ebooks. I think it would be a good idea for you to read it before you see this trainer.
