Many of us were concerned when Dan initially posted about getting another pup at this time. We shared those concerns, he gave it consideration and ultimately chose to do what was in his heart and mind.
It is going to be a challenge, and Dan is aware of this. It might be a decision which has an adverse effect on his health, or it could be the inspiration to help get him through a difficult time in his life.
What I do know is Dan will give it his best effort, which is more than many folks with just one dog provide. Neither dog will languish in a kennel. Neither dog will be abused or mistreated in any way, shape or form. If anyone's needs in this situation are not met, I believe it will be Dan's.
Would I have recommended this at this time? Nope. Will I support Dan to the best of my abilities now that he has made this decision? Of course.
Each of us are inspired by different things and respond differently to the same situation. I'm going to give Dan the benefit of the doubt and wish him the very best. I hope his new little gal helps center his life again and inspires him to become an even better trainer. If and when you have a bad day or hit a wall Dan, I hope you still come to Leerburg for advice to get you though that day's challenge.
Best of luck, but my general feeling is that if you're still at the point where you need to come in here and ask questions, you're not ready to handle a multi-dog (especially multi-pup) household.

Well, I'm asking questions here after mphty decades and many dogs (and a multiple-dog household).
So are many others.
Two puppies at once, though ..... with added challenges (or even without) .... yeah.

True. But there is a big difference between the kinds of questions you ask, and the kinds of questions that come from far less-experienced owners.
Dan, I'm sure your stubborn, "I can do this" nature has done you many favors in life. But I don't believe this is one of them. You've taken on a new job before the first one was done, and now you're going to have limited abilities to deal with either dog in a completely focused fashion. Again, best of luck.
Mariellena you made the HIT. My laugh is not even bigger than my smile. We are OK, We are really good. twenty six years of marriage is a lovely thing.
Carla, the new pup. has done wonders and she is only about twelve weeks, not only to me, wife and Chico included. plus the purchase of the condos did help.(Still to come). Dan

Dan I can relate with you for your reasons for the pup and as others have said a taken on a huge commitment. Please do care for yourself as well, you will do the dogs no good if you wear yourself to a point that you can't care for them.
