Sounds to me like you have the dog under good control, keep up the good work Jamie. The farmer is happy, the dog is happy, the dumb bunnies are getting weeded out and everybody is getting getting some 'free food'.
At least for the moment, don't worry about the rabbits they'll smarten up.
I have to say, this is kinda how I feel - since you can call him off the chase and it hasn't transferred to other situations. If you train a command for it and can control him - in a way it is like throwing a ball and calling for a down mid way. WITH the understanding of the possible worming/freezing/etc... and making sure you aren't going to get slammed in the pokey for killing a protected rabbit. (??? The way they breed ???).
I made the stupid mistake many years ago of allowing a dog to chase squirrels and deer - before I had any concept of what really good obedience entailed. THAT was one of the most stupid things I did in the past with a dog, and would not recommend or advocate someone allowing their dog to do so - just to be clear for someone reading this thread who may not understand what a well trained dog Jamie has.

I think I will continue to let him hunt these rabbits (after checking the legality of it of course). I will freeze the meat when he catches a couple more than the farmer can handle, and he'll get some of it. We have TONS of rabbits around here, even our coyotes can't
I'll also attach a command to it for clarity. He's completely fine with all sorts of animals however if he ever slips up I'll make sure to be on top of it (he is fine with stray cats running around, worst he's done is bark at one and that was because it ninja jumped on him while he was passing it's hiding spot)
not to mention this farmer is THRILLED that Ryuk's over there, as is his wife XD

Maybe you can leave a few on the doorstep of the office manager who told you Ryuk can't be off leash any longer... hehehe. JUST kidding!

I've been talking with the office about the ban....I found the dog that Ryuk was accused of being, she doesn't even LIVE in the complex. It's a (way to skinny) husky mix with no recall that doesn't wear a collar and hates people. Plus side is she likes Ryuk and likes me so at least she's easy for me to catch when I see her, she'll walk right up to Ryuk, I'll slip a leash over her head, she'll buck and freak out, offer her a treat and she'll curl up in my lap until her owner catches up...they don't own a leash and apparently prefer to send their 5th grade kid out to chase he around the complex until he tackles her and she bites him.
The manager said if I put a shock collar on Ryuk it was the same as a leash...I think I'll be purchasing a dummy shock collar....or maybe just make one since I think as long as it looks like a thing attached to the his collar it will work.

A little jewelry box, a bit 'o black gorilla tape, a badda bing, a badda boom - and you are back home, girlfriend! Then you can start charging for those bunny exterminating skills!

'Bout what I was thinking, except I was going to suggest a 9 volt battery and black tape!!

Yup, my hunter friends use a 9 volt and black tape to fool their dogs into thinking they have their Ecollars on. Looks pretty darn close.

Much better... far more water-proof than my flimsy box idea. However, the box could be used for the "transmitter".

Or get some cheap thing from the dollar store that has an LED on it, and wrap it in black tape - if it lights up, it must do something good!
