Hi Barbara, I guess I can use all stall mats, I heard about the rubber chips, But I just thought the stall mat will discourage Chico, and Carla for that late night visit, If she is not inside. Dan

I have a 30' X 30' dog run. I put down 4" of concrete. Its big enough for both my dogs (75lbs. each) to play and its simple as heck to clean. Pick up poops every other day and hose down a few times per week.
I had it pitched away from the house and towards my shrub beds that have p-gravel for good drainage.
it was expensive to put all that concrete down but now I have no worries, no poops or pee on the lawn and the bonus is the concrete keeps their nails trimmed.

I read the message suggesting rubber shredded from tires. I am kinda leary on that one. Maybe check into it first, to see the level of the toxic substances that may leech out or what could happen if your dogs ate some of it.

Wow Sharon, I have bought several of the cow mats along the way, people might called it by different names. But they are real thick and heavy, no dog going to eat it. As the environmental I will have to see, Thanks Sharon

Dan, I think Sharon was referring to the shredded rubber mulch I mentioned - not the stall mats. And obviously if one of your dogs eats/chews stuff - I would avoid the rubber mulch too! (As well as cocoa shell mulch - it is toxic to dogs from what I hear.
