I'm here to say absolutely that 1:1 is entirely too much. If the starship crew was using 1:1 it's no wonder they were always getting blown into and lost in the wayward wormhole.

The regular matter would be used as reaction mass. That is we throw it that way and the reaction moves us in opposite direction.
