10 months old? When is the last time out at nite?
Last access to water?
When mine was that age, & older, when I heard her up in the morning, I was straight getting to the door to let her out!

For me, it remains the same forever. Wake up, outside for them all to pee.
Not after I get dressed, even .... Two of mine are small-bladder dogs (probably similar to puppies) and I just keep a heavy robe and flip-flops ready.

I wake up like a zombie and let her out. I don't even pee myself 1st. I immediately get up and let her out. One of the trainers in my club seems to think that she is peeing (about half her bladder) in the morning to relieve some of the pressure and that's why when I let her out, she acts ashamed and embarrassed.
As far as last access to water, it's around 9pm and she comes in between 10-11pm.

Oh my goodness Dina those puppies are so adorable!
May I suggest this. This is what a trainer had me do with my girl. I couldn't get her broke and a week later she was broke. I was really surprised.
When she would go inside regardless if it was when I was gone or not...I would put her on a leash and tie her right about where she went. Then I left her for 20 minutes at a time. I would tell her No firmly while pionting at her mess about 4 times during that time. I would clean it up in front of her and say NO one last time. Then on the leash I took her outside. When she would go while outside we had a party. Off came the leash and she would go back in or stay out to play.
It worked like a charm. My girl is now I think 18months.
mod note: please see below; this is bad advice

You know, I had this same issue with on of my rottweilers which whom I got at 7 months old. Pure kennel/backyard dog up until I got her. She had no concept of where to go or that running around in urine or poop wasn't the way to do things. I am just a stickler for potty training. Originally, I was taking her out once before bed, once during the middle of the night, and once in the morning. I always would get up and try to take her straight out, but she had always gone by then. I never got mad at her, but it was very frustrating for me as potty training is hands down my biggest puppy pet peeve.
What worked for me was I literally treated her as a 2 month old puppy and took her out every 2 hours, than every 3, then 4, etc. until I she was holding it better. If she peed, I just decreased time again between bathroom outings. Also, I have to say that she was also peeing when she heard me moving I learned. So no matter how fast I was, she would pee because she stood up in anticipation. She wasn't excited mind you, but it was just second nature that when she stood after sleeping that she had to pee. I had to learn to be a covert ninja and sneak up to her crate so that I could catch her before she would pee. Granted I did this for a while, but now all my work has paid off. Worse dog to potty train I ever had, but well worth it in the long run. Hope that helps with some other ideas.

Side note: Michelle, I am not sure your dog was really reacting to your "No" commands inside as much as she was probably reacting to the party being thrown outside. Reason I say that is because if you usually don't catch a dog right when they go, meaning is lost and it is just a confusing command by then. I could be wrong, but hey just my opinion. My dogs are all for the parties outside too.

wow, I can not stress enough that this is NOT something to try.
So if you came home after a few hours and saw pee on the floor you would tie your dog in the area it urinated in and leave her there for 20 minutes, but come back a few times and tell her no and point at the pee on the floor?
Personally if i came home and my dog had peed on the floor the first thing I would do is say to myself (oopps, i was gone too long) and take the dog outside. Not tie him up where he peed(or near where he peed) for 20 minutes.
Please Dina, do not use this method.
I agree with the post below. Take up the dogs water a bit earlier. And even though it's a pain, maybe take her out an hour before you normally do in the morning?
You've gotten alot of excellent advice in this thread.

This was the ONLY way she stopped and i doubt it was the party outside because when I tried doing that orginally it DID NOT work. It made matters worse. She found a place she was going and the only reason we found it is it smelled like rotting flesh in the house due to her excessive using the house.
You may not like the way but yes it did work and in the week she was broke. Had been trying for almost four months prior to that. She wasn't harmed. She was on the leash she had room to move she just couldn't leave the spot. It worked. Take it or not that is your choice. Now wows about it. She was the worst dog I've ever hd to potty train where potty training comes into play.
We didn't give her water at night. Tried the every 2 hour thing. Every hour after that failed. I spent my entire day walking in and out and in and out and it made NO difference. NONE.
I tried one trainer and nothing they suggested doing worked on her. I got someone else that two different people recommeneding and everything he said to do worked.
Every dog is not the same. I had people on here tell me shame on me for telling her no for stealing food WHILE I was trying to serve it and that I needed to put things up. I though ok...while serving? She also wasn't gaining weight intially I was told giver her the raw diet then i had vets say add dog food to it. Then I was told you can't do that. Then the new trainer laughed at me, which I didn't mind and then said simply feed her at the same time that you eat. I did and she doesn't steel food anymore and in two months she has gained 18 lbs or so. She eats right next to me out of her bowl and wow she does'nt beg anymore. You may not like my trainers methods but I'm thankful! And it worked on our girl. And she is happy.
So I would recommened it!

Sounds good. The habit that has been started needed concerted attention. I'd probably be taking the dog out to pee as late as possible every night and as early as possible every morning and setting the alarm at 2-3 am or so as well, just to break this cycle.
Lamarr, of course you're right that the party outside was the trigger in that success story, and NOT tying the dog to where she had had an (owner-fault) accident. That whole tying to the spot thing does nothing but create anxiety and/or confusion. Nothing about pointing angrily at a puddle and saying no teaches anything to the dog except "Uh-oh. Random trouble for me again that I have no idea how to avoid."
My anger is at the person (I won't say "trainer") who told Michelle to do this. , not at Michelle.

No. It didn't "work." This has no basis in the way dogs behave/react/think. Something worked, but it was no more tying the dog near a puddle-spot than it would have been if someone was rubbing a dog's nose in it or hitting the dog with a rolled-up newspaper when you come home.
Unless you catch the dog IN THE ACT, which is when I hustle the dog outside and praise for finishing in the right place, forget it. There is no way the dog connects an act in the past with being punished, I don't care how close to the scene, in the future.
