How wonderful Drift and Shyner could bring so many smiles and company to the nursing home. Touching as ever Kelly, thanks for sharing yet another special time with us.
I can only imagine just how full your heart was getting to see the happiness the dogs brought to their faces, truly precious!

It is a really great feeling to see others fawn over your dogs, and see that they love them almost as much as you do

I hope that more people will think about visiting some folks in the hospital or nursing home. The nursing home that I went to didn't even require any certification for the dogs to come in, they just wanted to see that they were well mannered. Shyner isn't trained in much but "couch potato 101" but she has a very loving personality, and she's always been Alice's favorite dog so we HAD to take her

Both dogs couldn't wait to start seeing people. They were whining as we approached the door as if they KNEW they would get hours of loving there Once we got inside, they calmed immediately and started working the crowd. It really was amazing to see them working.

Even if you don't think your dog is up to it, anyone can go and take a plate of cookies or something and just sit with the residents and talk. I think talking was as important to them as seeing the dogs was. The guy in the wheelchair very much enjoyed telling me about his dogs and how wonderful they were. It's nice to let them share their memories I guess I imagine myself in that circumstance, and would want to talk "dog" with someone who understands... it would mean the world to me, just as "talking" with all of you folks does. Dogs are a common bond that brings so many different people together
