Vicky, I didn't use knit gloves at this age; I used heavy duty working types gloves purchased at Lowes or Home Depot. You definitely don't want anything those little shark teeth can get caught in!

Edit reason: added "caught"
Am SO glad we are MOSTLY past that stage - Ruby (GSD) is 9 mos now. She does seem to think my hands encased in heavy snowgloves are fair game, but not otherwise. But OMG - my hands and arms were a mess all last summer. Everyone has given good advice. Have faith - this too shall pass.
I am planning on getting some of those gloves, I noticed that when I use my motorcycle gloves they work best too. But don't want to ruin them. Great idea, thanks!

Hey Vicky, I have a schraderhaus dog too, I have noticed since he was a puppy he LOVES to have something in his mouth... All the time... whenever he gets excited, he picks up a bone( we dont leave toys down or he would have them) before even coming for attention. It helped when he was a monster biting puppy. I will also say if you learn how to hold the treats like Michael Ellis does, it prevents the finger biting during training. Dante is very gentle with taking food now, and I credit it completely to how Michael shows you how to do it.
"magically" at 9 months (?) the behavior (you as prey object) disappears, & then you wonder where it went! lol
But I was adhering to the "good" one's never stop!
Always kept something in my pup's mouth (or tried too), & that habit is still what she falls back to; when she gets too excited, ramped, she grabs a ball!! & carries it around, stress, "steam" reducer! (& she is 2.5 yo)!
note pic, ball in mouth!
